About Corli Slabbert

​I have always gravitated toward the South African Landscape and Seascapes because I find them so expressive. Living in South Africa there is no way that you can not be influenced by it.

Other influences in my work that can be seen are by other various artists.

Mark Rothko for his use of color, the application thereof, and the relationship between color and emotion. Also included are contemporary landscape artists like April Gornik and Vija Celmins.

Through my work, I convey more than just a beautiful landscape. My work evokes an atmospheric quality.

The viewer must feel like they can step into the painting and go on a journey of exploration. Wanting the viewer to experience and connect their own emotion when looking at the work.
